Hi, I'm Silas (Jiawei Xu). I engineer resilient backend systems and cloud-native infrastructure. My path into technology isn't traditional, but it is driven by a deep obsession with systemic efficiency, transactional integrity, and architectural automation.


The Shift: From Commerce to Infrastructure

Before committing to the terminal, I spent four years in the trenches of international trade, driving front-end sales, expanding global market channels, and managing high-stakes cross-border commercial transactions. Operating in fast-paced, volatile macro market cycles taught me the absolute critical value of system consistency, risk mitigation, and precision execution across borders.

Through orchestrating these complex global economic pipelines, I realized that the modern world’s most powerful transactional networks are no longer secured by traditional contracts—they are engineered within low-latency networks, distributed databases, and automated cloud architecture. I chose to move from managing the commerce to engineering the engines that power it.

The Technical Armory

I intentionally bypass frontend distractions to focus 100% of my cognitive capital on the infrastructure and data persistence layer:

  • Backend Core & Data: Java (Spring Boot), Python, Shell Scripting, PostgreSQL (ACID, MVCC compliance), Distributed API Design.
  • DevOps & Cloud-Native: Linux Systems Administration (Debian/Ubuntu), Docker Containerization, Apache Kafka, Kubernetes (K8s) Orchestration, Microsoft Azure Ecosystem.

My Philosophy
